Soil samples: an important step towards sustainable agriculture
Soil samples: an important step towards sustainable agriculture
The beginning of the year is the ideal time to take soil samples from fields. This process is crucial for maintaining and maximizing soil fertility. Samples are taken from several points in the field using a special sampling rod to obtain a representative composite sample. These samples are taken in the spring, prior to the growing season and fertilizer application. The samples are then carefully packaged, labeled and sent to a lab where they are analyzed for various nutrients.
But why is this analysis so important?
Regular soil analysis provides valuable information about current nutrient content. This makes it possible to determine which nutrients are lacking or present in excess. With this data, fertilizer application can be adjusted in a targeted manner – according to plant needs, the previous crop and the planned yield.
The goal is to fertilize as needed rather than indiscriminately apply nutrients. This prevents over-fertilization of the soil and ensures that plants get exactly the nutrients they need for healthy growth.
By treating the soil with care, farmers are making an important contribution to the sustainable use of this valuable resource and promoting organic agriculture.
